Celebrities Who Use CBD and Why

August 26, 2019

CBD is in literally everything—you can drink it, you can bathe in it, you can slather it on from head to toe. And it seems Hollywood’s biggest names are doing just that.

Celebrities Who Use CBD and Why

CBD has been transforming the self-care industry, thanks to its alleged calming effects on the body and mind and A-listers including Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Kim Kardashian, are some of CBDs biggest advocates. Here, a few of CBD’s famous fans who’ve explained why and how they’re healing themselves with CBD products.

Montel Williams

Talk show host Montel Williams is a long-time advocate for cannabis and CBD legalization. Montel has consumed cannabis-based products almost every day for the last seventeen years. Montel vapes concentrated forms of cannabis and CBD. For years, he has advocated for cannabis and its other compounds. In 1999, Montel was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which affects his body from head to toe. MS is a painful disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack the insulation around one’s nerves. Montel suffered from depression for years after his MS diagnosis. The depression became so severe that he tried jumping in front of a taxi. However, not long after that Montel did begin consuming CBD to manage his pain and mood. Currently, Montel believes that CBD helps him function in day to day life. He regularly makes television appearances and gives educational talks on cannabis. His goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of cannabis and the positive impact it can have on many lives.

Kim Kardashian

Kim K isn’t shy about her love for CBD. Last week she told E! that she hopes her upcoming baby shower will be “CBD themed.” And she’s happy to share recommendations of products she loves. On her Instagram story, Kim K recently revealed that she’s hooked on CBD salves. “Anyone that knows me knows I am obsessed with CBD everything!” she wrote. “This is not an ad lol, my fave right now is Pellequr.”

Pellequr, for the non-initiated, is a Korean spa in Beverly Hills that offers “proprietary products that are infused with the transformative, healing powers of CBD oil.”

Whoopi Goldberg

The View co-host is the co-founder of Whoopi & Maya, a company that specializes in the legal distribution of medical marijuana. Another mainstay of the brand? CBD products specifically for relief from period pain (hello cramps, meet CBD brownie).

Alessandra Ambrosio

You have to put in some serious gym time to become one of the most famous Victoria’s Secret models to walk the runway, so it should come as no surprise that Ambrosio turns to CBD-infused products to soothe her wings muscles and help her sleep.

“It’s hard because the mind gets anxious, so I try CBD oil and I think it helps,” she told Well + Good of her pre-runway insomnia back in 2017.

Jennifer Aniston

“CBD helps with pain, stress, and anxiety,” Aniston told US Weekly, adding that it offers her all the benefits of marijuana without making her high. Unfortunately for us, the actress didn’t comment on her preferred method of utilizing said benefits, but CBD is regularly taken as a tincture or used as a muscle rub.

Mandy Moore

Being the star of This Is Us means Moore has walked more than her fair share of red carpets. To soothe aching feet, she told The Coveteur that she planned to use Lord Jones CBD oil ahead of last year’s Golden Globes:”This year I’m trying some CBD oil on my feet.”

It’s a trick that celebrity stylists have been recommending. Karla Welch, whose clients include Ruth Negga, Karlie Kloss, and Sarah Paulson, has called CBD “the absolute CURE for aching feet on the red carpet. Don’t worry, your feet ain’t going to get high but this miracle cream is going to make a long evening much more fun.”

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is an actor, narrator, and cannabis advocate. Freeman started openly advocating for CBD after he endured a nearly-fatal car accident in 2008. After he recovered, he developed fibromyalgia. Due to the intense pain and discomfort Freeman experienced, he decided to use plant medicine. Morgan Freeman consumes CBD for its natural pain-relieving effects. Although Morgan regularly uses CBD, he also uses THC to help treat his Fibromyalgia.

Emma Roberts

Earlier this year, Us Weekly reported that Roberts extolled the virtues of her favorite Mazz Hanna CBD bath tonic on her Instagram stories, explaining it helps to soothe her entire body.

Hanna, the celeb manicurist behind the new-age beauty brand, started incorporating CBD into products after finding relief when using it to combat long-term pain from a car accident.

Olivia Wilde

Wilde opened up about her love of Lord Jones CBD lotion during an interview with the New York Times last year.

“Recently I did a play on Broadway for six months. My body was wrecked, [and] my neck was really tight. The CBD has relaxing benefits, and the idea is to avoid using too many painkillers.”

Kristen Bell

Bell has spoken at length about her belief in CBD products (and cannabis use in general). Most recently, she shared a photo of Lord Jones CBD lotion on her Instagram story, writing that it helps her “sore muscles after working out.”

Tommy Chong

One part of the famous comedy duo Cheech and Chong, it is no surprise that this 70s star is an advocate user of CBD. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010, Chong decided to use his illness to educate himself and others on the benefits of CBD and often campaigned for cannabis law reform. Deciding to go down the route of natural medicine Chong incorporated CBD hemp oil into his diet alongside cannabis therapy and additional lifestyle changes. One year after diagnosis the illness had disappeared which the actor openly puts down to CBD. Sadly, his cancer returned in 2015 and despite taking a new aggressive approach to treatment Chong still admits using CBD for relief from negative symptoms.

Seth Rogen

Canadian actor and comedian Seth Rogen keeps it no secret that he enjoys smoking weed, but what most people don’t know, is that he is also a champion for the use of medical marijuana. Rogen’s passion is based around the legalisation of CBD for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The comedy genius is one of many celebrities that endorse CBD and regularly lobbies on the subject. Seth Rogen even spoke to congress challenging its leaders on existing CBD law.

Mike Tyson

Former boxer Mike Tyson is also constructing Tyson Ranch, a project to build a pot farm in California City, approximately 50 miles from Los Angeles. Rob Hickman, an investor backing Tyson Ranch, told CNNMoney that Tyson “doesn’t drink anymore, he’s a heavy CBD and a heavy marijuana user.” “The news of Mike Tyson setting up a cannabis farm caught many by surprise because he’s not necessarily a figure that you would associate with cannabis use,” said John Kagia, a cannabis industry analyst for New Frontier Data.
