Native Roots Wellness opens flagship store in downtown Denver, offers only hemp-derived CBD products
Native Roots Wellness, billed as “Denver’s premier CBD store,” just opened its flagship location in downtown Denver. The new company will not to sell any products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Instead, it is offering hemp-based cannabidiol (CBD) products from multiple vendors in an upscale retail experience focused on providing information and education to customers.
“We really want to make this an educational experience for people who stop in,” communications director Kim Casey said in an interview. “We have so many tourists in this part of town who haven’t learned as much about CBD yet.”
Products available in the store range from Kured Brand vapes to Mary’s Nutritionals lotions to Therabis pet products and everything in between.
What does hemp-based CBD mean?
Hemp and marijuana are different varieties of the cannabis plant. Marijuana contains up to 30 percent THC, the psychoactive component in cannabis. Hemp, on the other hand, contains less than 0.3 percent (per dry weight), a negligible amount.
The difference is important to note, not just because of the effects, but because the of legality. In the United States, CBD oil with more than 0.3 percent THC (i.e., marijuana-derived CBD) cannot legally be bought or sold online. Consumers who desire CBD with higher levels of THC must visit a licensed dispensary.
While hemp-based CBD products are completely legal, Native Roots Wellness limits sales to those 18 years of age and older.
